Healthcare Advocacy
As a healthcare advocate I put my 15 years of experience working in conventional medicine as a medic, healthcare educator, and clinical administrator to use by providing support to people navigating the allopathic healthcare system.
As a healthcare advocate I put my 15 years of experience working in conventional medicine as a medic, healthcare educator, and clinical administrator to use by providing support to people navigating the allopathic healthcare system. This includes going through screenings, understanding diagnosis and treatment, and assistance with the follow up of medical conditions. As an advocate I ask questions, document information, help you speak up, and when needed speak up for you so you and your loved ones can better understand your health and get the care and resources you need. In this capacity, I can also help you navigate insurance, secure providers, facilitate conversations about options, and help in managing treatment plan decisions.
I am committed to facilitating a dignified process that honors the stories, agency, self determination, and lives of all people.
This offering is for individuals seeking support in navigating the allopathic (Western)healthcare system.
How We Work
First Session
Our initial session will be focused on doing an inventory of your current health status as well as your healthcare and overall wellness needs. I will ask about your experiences navigating hospitals, practitioners, pharmacies, and insurance companies to get a fuller picture and identify potential gaps in care. By the end of this appointment, we would have conducted a thorough needs assessment and determined ways in which my services can best meet your needs. We will map out our next steps and intentionally move forward.
Follow up sessions
The follow ups will be specific to every person’s unique needs. They may include accompaniment to doctor’s visits, reviewing and explaining medical records, making calls to insurance companies, education, appointment setting, and facilitating family conversations.
